Today I was reflecting back on 2008, and what a whirlwind of a year it was for my wife and myself. After all, it was the year that I decided to take my photography seriously and really take it to the next level. Thinking back now, I feel as though the turning point for me was when I decided I needed to work with models and learn how to shoot people. Hmmm…..so how do you go about that? After some research, I found a website that helps models and photographers find each other. OneModelPlace.Com was the website. I still have an account there. My member number is #212619 and this is My Profile. After countless attempts to find a model with no luck, a beautiful young lady finally answered my call. Her name you ask? Monika Marie. If you’re a photographer looking for a model to work with, she is awesome! Hire her, you won’t regret it! We scheduled a shoot, We where going to shoot downtown Cleveland, near the war memorial and then head to the Old Arcade. By the way, beautiful locations for wedding shoots also. Well, to say the least I was nervous. Here I am, 37 years old, taking on a new challenge and I’m nervous about meeting a 19 year old model and her mom! Thank goodness for my wife, she was there to assist and keep me from making a fool of myself. Thanks hun ;-) Anyway, we met and chatted for a minute, discussed our location and where to start. We started near the federal bank and I felt my nerve controling me, but as the shoot went along, I became confident and really began to concentrate on composing great images. The shoot was a success! Monika, is a Kent State University student and a professional model with great aspirations for her future. She was a blast to work with, very professional and I look forward to working with her again. I learned a ton from the shoot, started my portfolio and Monika got a few pretty great shots that she added to her portfolio also. The things I learned from the shoot began my journey to better photography…………
